Many of you will know of a few famous makeup brush collections, Real Techniques, Zoeva, M.A.C to name a few. Whether they’re known for being soft and luxurious, amazing quality or easily affordable these brands have made a big name for themselves in the world of brushes and I had never really looked further afield than my Real Techniques basics; that is until I received a Spectrum brush in a goody bag. Just over a year ago I attended the Blogger Hangout Summer Party – now SocialBerry – and received a Motel Rocks goody bag with plenty of treats inside including a fan brush from Spectrum. Since then I’ve been lusting over their brushes including the essentials, marbelous & their new bombshell collection.
Spectrum Brushes is the extremely popular makeup brush brand taking social media and bloggers by storm. Each brush has a beautiful bold colour to it dependent on the collection it belongs to, along with an excellent design and quality making these some amazing brushes! Not only are they Vegan and completely cruelty-free but their so super soft you’ll never want another brand again!
I’ve been testing out the 10 Piece Essential Kit because I love the original style and also because I find trying out a variety of the different brushes available means I would be able to get a good idea of Spectrum Brushes as a whole. Also having this collection would be all a ‘girl starting out with makeup’ would need to get all her basics.
The handles are chunky enough to get a good grip on them, and the bristles are densely packed with a luxuriously soft feel – literally couldn’t stop stroking my face with them – I’ve found you only need to swirl them into the product once as the synthetic hairs really pick up a lot of product whilst remaining fluffy. My favourites would have to be the Small Angled Blender A04 , the Large Fluffy Shader A06 and the Large Domed Powder A01.
Small angled Blender A04
I particularly like the slanted shape of this brush as it makes it perfect for blending in colour to the crease of the eye. The bristles are still tightly packed enough to pick up good amounts of product whilst it is also fluffy enough to blend out nicely too. The angled shape fits perfectly into the shape of my eye.
Large Fluffy Shader A06
I do love a fluffy eye brush. This brush is the perfect size for either applying shadow or primer to the whole eyelid or to blend out harsh lines from eye contouring. As far as eye brushes are concerned this would be my staple brush over everything else as it’s such an essential basic.
Large Domed Powder A01
I find this brush quite similar to the Real Techniques Blush Brush however, the spectrum Powder Brush is considerably fluffier and less dense. I sometimes find I put too much blush on but because this brush allows me to apply the product naturally keeping the product buildable.
I’ve worked out that even though the brushes are sold separately between £9.99 – £4.99 if you buy the 10 piece essentials set each brush works out at £3.99 which is such a bargain for amazing quality brushes! The set is perfect for both makeup-lovers and newbies to makeup as they such amazing quality at a really affordable price. This brush set has officially taken the place of all my previous one’s and I can’t wait to buy the other collections too! I’ve got my eye on the Marbelous Collection, The Glam Clam & The Bombshell Collection – which is not even out yet! -.
