Whats In My Bag // Summer Holiday

Whilst I myself am not jetting off on a fabulous holiday this year, I know a whole lot of you lucky lot are so I thought I would share a Whats In My Bag – Summer Holiday with you! Everyone’s essentials are different and while some people bring their laptops and chargers along on a holiday others are quite happy with an interesting book read. Whether it be for an afternoon by the pool or a morning travelling through the air these are the basic’s I like to have sitting next to me in my handbag.

Passport

Of course, if you don’t want to be stopped at airport security at 5am in the morning you’ll have to bring your passport along, I always make sure it is in the zipped compartment of my handbag so it’s all ready to bring out at the check in desk. If helping you to fly wasn’t essential you’ll be needing this form of ID for anything alcoholic whilst bathing in the sun *of course, this only applies if you’re lucky enough to look under 25 or perhaps whatever the country’s legal age is*. The lovely Holly at Benefit was lovely enough to gift me this gorgeous metallic passport which has me dying to go somewhere sunny.

Suncream

As a pale freckly ginger, I seem to attract the sun and it’s damaging UV rays. After a few days out as a teen, protesting against my mother slavering on the suncream, thinking I would get a lovely golden tan and as a result instead turning a rosy tomato red colour. Since then I’ve started putting on suncream on every day paying close attention to the sunny days, however abroad during the heat of summer is a whole different ball game. I always carry with me a waterproof 50 SPF suncream so I can put a bit on when heading for some sunbathing and then reapply after I get out of the water *as I find even waterproof wears off so it’s always best to re-apply*.

Notebook & Pen

Whether I’m on holiday or just popping to the shops nowadays I always keep my Ted Baker Notebook on hand along with a pen to make sure I have a place to write down numbers, details, to do lists and more. Most times it’s filled with to-do’s and nonsense but sometimes I use it to note down blog post idea’s whilst I’m out and about as well as planning them out so I can add them to my Blog Post Masterlist later on. On holiday this is extra important as I prefer to keep my notebook on me rather than lugging around my MacBook or iPad *especially to the pool*.

Purse

Instead of lugging around a big bulky purse I’ve taken to carrying a smaller coin purse which carries all my change and a few emergency cards. At the moment I’ve been using the Zoella Life is Sweet Beauty Bag *see my review of the collection here* and although technically this isn’t a purse and instead a beauty bag I’ve found it to be the perfect size to keep my pennies in as well as looking adorable.

Phone

As I would never like to completely abandon the internet I always take my phone, the Samsung S6 with me wherever I go. Luckily enough the network THREE allows me to make texts and calls to the UK as well as using my data abroad with no extra charge which even though I tend to use wifi is a very comforting thought. My phone allows me to keep up to date with all you lovely readers via my Blog, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even Snapchat so I can show you all what a lovely time I’m having seeing the sites and lounging in the sun.

Makeup

I never go anywhere without my makeup bag but I must say my beauty routine gets dialled down considerably when on holiday, I like to keep just my bare essentials that can be used for both a natural and night look. As a base, I take my NARS Tinted Moisturiser which is perfect for holiday as it has an SPF of 30 for sun protection and only lightly tints your face giving a look of naturally flawless skin. Next up is mascara which can definitely take a downward turn after being in a pool, for this I would use my favourite Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara but the new Waterproof version to make sure I don’t resemble a panda when coming out the water. Even in UK I find my lips get dry often let alone being in 35-degree heat, for this, I always carry my Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Honey which moisturises and protects my lips for longer than any lip balm; it’s a lifesaver. When it comes to my face I switch between two products, if I’m going for an easy natural look I’ll go for the Benefit Lollitint, I received a sample from the Norwich Bloggers Event and have been using it ever since but if I’m looking for a fuller face of makeup I’ll make good use of my Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette *read my review here* it’s a brilliant travel size and has a bronzer, highlighter, 2 x blushes & 3 x eyeshadows which can be used to create both day & night looks.

Sunglasses & Bag

Last but not least for essentials come the sunglasses, I have a few pairs but always come back to my Topshop Cat-Eye Sunglasses, they go with everything and make a basic outfit look that much more classy; and as for my bag I found this fabulous gold and pastel pink handbag in Primark of all places! Normally I would go for a rucksack but I’ve just been so attached to this bag as it holds practically everything; it has a pocket inside and on the front as well as clasps and a longer strap to carry on the shoulder.

As well as providing links throughout this post for products I’ve also placed them below so if anything takes your fancy you know where to find it!

It’s such an important part of a summer routine but so many people forget it for the temptation of brown skin :/ x

I totally carry most of these as well! No passport for me unless I’m traveling out of the country though. Only makeup I carry is a lip product and a powder! Great post!
